Oral advocacy is a skill that requires continual refinement and practice.

In one intensive day, Mastering Examinations-in-Chief will sharpen your skills in examining witness both in the physical and the virtual courtroom. You’ll receive individualized feedback from the foremost Canadian instructors in advocacy skills training who are senior members of the bench and bar.

From the developers of the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop (ITAW), OsgoodePD’s Mastering Examinations-in-Chief delves into the nuances of direct examinations and improve upon the skills you have gained in your earlier years of practice. In one intensive day, you will engage in discussions and these practice skills:

Understanding when to strategically ask the different types of questions in litigation

Applying strategies that would making the most impact at the right time

Effectively organizing and sequencing your questions

Maximizing the parameters of direct questioning

Dealing with difficult witnesses

Effectively framing and re-framing questions

Managing inconsistencies in responses

Best practices for examining witnesses in a virtual courtroom

Who Should Attend?

Lawyers who have at least 3-5 years of litigation experience and/or have completed the ITAW
