Absolutely! While the Diploma can be useful for those who wish to pursue advanced legal education, it is not a bridging program. It is a means of introduction to Canadian Common Law that will develop students’ legal awareness and acumen in their careers.
The Diploma is a useful means of transitioning into Canadian legal education. If you excel in it, you will be able to demonstrate a helpful amount of exposure and increased academic proficiency, both of which can benefit an LLM application.
On average, students undertake 9 credits a term. That generally equates to 54 hours of in-class participation. We encourage students to budget one hour for every hour that they are in class for additional reading or coursework.
