What actually shifts outcomes in mediation?

Beyond technique and process design, experienced practitioners know that outcomes often depend on something less visible: judgment, timing, presence, courage and credibility.

A Joint Program by the Winkler Institute for Dispute Resolution, the International Academy of Mediators, and Osgoode Professional Development.

Redesigned for 2026, this Mediation Forum brings together leading mediators and public figures for four in-depth interviews exploring the critical moments that shape mediation outcomes – when to intervene, when to hold back, how to navigate power and how to sustain trust with parties and stakeholders in complex disputes. Featuring Paul Iacono, Bill Marsh (UK), Angela Reddock-Wright (US) and The Honourable Bob Rae. Each conversation will be followed by audience dialogue, inviting participants to connect these insights to their own practice.

The Forum will conclude with a dynamic panel discussion that will provide a sharp, critical examination of our experts’ interview responses, bridge mediation philosophy with real-world constraints and provide practical strategies around building trust, preparation, handling difficult scenarios and the use of technology in mediation practice.

This program is more than a conference – it’s your opportunity to engage with top mediation and arbitration professionals. Leave inspired, equipped and ready to apply lessons in judgment, courage and craft to reach your desired outcomes.

Can’t Make the Date? Registration includes 120-day unlimited, online access to the recorded program.
