Before immigrating to Canada, Oksana Nasadiuk had earned her law degree in Ukraine. Determined to continue her work as a lawyer, she began exploring her options – her search led her to OsgoodePD’s Professional LLM in Canadian Common Law.

Relocating from Vancouver to Toronto to pursue the program marked a turning point in her journey. The program gave her a strong foundation in Canadian law and a community of peers with similar goals.

“The program opened doors immediately,” Oksana says. “While studying, I started working in a small law firm near campus. My principal knew I was in law school, so he gave me real legal work – going to court, handling adjournments, learning how things actually operate.”

That early experience, paired with the reputation of an Osgoode education, helped her transition to major-firm practice at McCarthy Tétrault, and later to a leadership role at a fast-growing regional firm. “When you say you went to Osgoode, people recognize that,” she says. “It builds trust right away.”

For Oksana, one of the most valuable aspects of the program was how it connected her with people and opportunities. “I’m very much a networking person,” she says. “I treated Osgoode as a place to meet my peers and build relationships.” That approach carried through her career, helping her secure positions, mentorships, and lasting professional friendships.

She also connected with Michael Tam, a program lawyer who provides career advising at OsgoodePD. Together, they refined how she presented her experience for the Canadian legal market, producing a version of her resume she continues to use today.

One of her most influential instructors, Darryl Singer, taught Professional Responsibility and Ethics in a way that left a lasting impression – with honesty and humour. Singer has remained a mentor long after graduation, offering advice whenever ethical or practice-management questions arise.

Beyond technical knowledge, the program gave Oksana something more personal: confidence. “At first, I worried whether my English was good enough or whether people would see me as a Canadian lawyer,” she admits. “But my classmates were all internationally trained professionals, and seeing how many of them went on to work in government or start their own firms showed me I could do it too.”

Today, Oksana is the founding lawyer of OKSee Law Professional Corporation, a Toronto-based practice specializing in commercial and residential real estate and immigration law. Outside her practice, she devotes time to pro bono work that supports individuals struggling with substance addiction.

Oksana’s journey reflects what’s possible when determination meets opportunity. The knowledge and network she built at OsgoodePD continue to shape how she leads her practice, and how she opens doors for others following in her path.
